This course spoke to the high needs of our students that have been exposed to Trauma. Most of is based around a study done in Canterbury, focusing on children that experienced the earthquake.
Key Point:
- Children exposed to 3 or more traumatic experiences struggle at school
- Students coping at school my still have high anxiety at home, but hold it in at school
- Behavior can be associated with the stress they carry
- Over stimulation can heighten the stress in classrooms
- Classrooms should be no more than 50 decibels
- Classrooms should be between 20-24 degrees
